Penny Pray

April 4, 1961 — June 23, 2022

Penny Pray, 61, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2022, with her loving family at her side.

She was born on April 4, 1961, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Betty F. Shelton and Billy E. Turner.

Throughout life, Ms. Penny loved spending time with her family and friends.  She loved attending church with her Mama, Aunt Sue, and Uncle Sonny.  A few of her most enjoyable times included partaking in arts and crafts, scrap booking, coloring, working with beads, and learning how to crochet. Most of all when she was able, she dearly loved spending time and playing with Kailee (3), Keelan (4), and Mathew (4).  A few of her fondest memories with them included singing nursery rhymes, and dancing around while sitting on her bed.  She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

In addition to her parents, Betty Shelton, and Billy E. Turner, she was preceded by her maternal grandparents, Elender and Hoyte Elders; paternal grandparents, Ruby and Eunice Turner; stepfather, Melvin Shelton; sisters, Donna Shelton, and Laurice West; son-in-law, Michael McDonald.

Left to cherish the many memories include her beloved children, Robert Powell, Sandra Powell, and Chloe McDonald; grandchildren, Brett Wood, Bella McDonald, and Cyan McDonald; siblings, Barbara Brocksmith, Charlotte Hardin, Michelle “Little Keith” Keith, Cindy Taylor, Lynn Shelton, Donald Turner, and James (Teresa) Taylor; special great nephews and niece, Ryan Keeton, Kadon Adams, Mathew Brocksmith, Keelan Eubanks, and Kailee Patterson.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

Family and friends will gather from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home.
