Lois Prince, 90, of Benton, departed this life on December 17, 2021, at Signature Healthcare where she lived the last several years.
She was born on November 22, 1931, one of thirteen children born to the late Joseph and Elsie Swann.
Lois was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church but attended Zion Baptist Church when she was able. She enjoyed her friends from the senior ladies Sunday school class and dearly loved the monthly Happy Hearts gathering at First Baptist Church of Benton, mainly because she enjoyed the eating and socializing. Even after transitioning to the nursing home, she enjoyed watching people come and go and was involved in a lot of their activities. Singing gospel songs with visiting church groups was a favorite as well as sitting in her room snacking on Reese’s. Just the week before she could be heard singing “When the Saints Go Marching In” and remembering the words.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Wilfred” Prince; son, Doyle Prince; daughter, Janet Keller; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Lowe, Josephine “Jo” Hicks, Clarine Moats, Pauline “Polly” Skelton, Bobby Grissom, and Ellen Swann; brothers, Don Swann and James “J.T.” Swann.
Left to cherish the many memories include her children, Benny (Penny) Taylor, Sharon (Julian) Botts, and Jenell (Jack) Williams; grandchildren, Julie Sampley, Nathan Keller, Megan Brown, Grey Taylor, Sarah Taylor, and Jill Williams; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Becky Bain, Beatrice “Bea” Hicks, Cleo Swann and Sue McFarland.
