Joseph "JP" Moorhouse

September 23, 1925 — July 2, 2020

Joseph Pryor (J.P.) Moorhouse, 94, died peacefully at home on July 2, 2020. A veteran of WWII, and retired airline Captain, J.P. was a Benton native, passing on the family farm where he was born on September 23, 1925.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nina Moorhouse; wife Agnes Marie; and sisters, Anna, Imogene, Mildred, Peggy, Joyce, and Mary.

He is survived by his daughter, Gerry (JT) Tanksley; brother, William (Virgina) Moorhouse Jr.; step-daughter, Helen Brown; grandchildren, Joyce (Tom) Jordan, Henry Mahanke, Michaela (John) Coston, Casie Tanksley, and caretaker Deb Carver.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Benton Memorial Gardens with military honors.

His family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please set out a hummingbird feeder.
