Carl "Hoss" Maples

Johnathan Carl Eugene “Hoss” Maples, 60, of Benton, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at home.

He was of the Baptist faith.  “Hoss” was a faithful farmer at Riverside Dairy Farms for 42 years.  He was a very welcoming and accepting man that loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be missed by all.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and Velma Ruth Maples; paternal grandparents, Clark and Sophie Maples; maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Loma Arwood; special uncle, Warren Hatcher; siblings, Raymond Maples, Clark Maples, Judy Proffitt and Debbie Huskey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Renee Maples; beloved children, Adam Maples, Daniel (Erin Campbell) Maples and Jim Bob Maples; two grandchildren, Makayla Maples and Ethan Brownfield; ten siblings, Gary (Rowena) Maples, Darlene (George McGahee) Kirby, Cathy (Jimmy) Frye, Frankie (Gene) Standridge, Vicki McGill, Cindy (C.W.) Beal, Lisa Maples, Neil (Jil) Maples, Maggie (Steve) Taylor and Jody Maples; special aunt, Linda Hatcher; mother and father-in-law, Bobby (Jean) Burchfiel.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Benton with Pastor, Dr. Robert K. Speights officiating.  Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens with Mac Hatcher, Jeffrey Burchfiel, Neil Maples, Jody Maples, C.W. Beal, Ronnie Lightfoot and Shane Hatcher serving as pallbearers.   Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy McClary, Gene Standridge and T.R. Stone.

His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Benton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
