Johnanna Lovin Hunt, 80, of Benton, devoted wife, mother and Nana, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2021.
She was born on February 9, 1941 in Tellico Plains, TN to the late John and Pearl (Young) Lovin. After receiving her Home Economics degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, she taught Home Economics at Polk County High School for 39 years. She married Tom Mac Hunt and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 8, 2021.
Johnanna was most passionate about her family and she enjoyed annual reunions with many of her cousins and families. She loved to sew and prepare meals. Mrs. Hunt was known for her stylish appearance, kindness, patience and devotion to her students and family.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Jones, Aubrie Bainbridge, Luella Earnest and Leoma Lewellyn; three brothers, Norman Lovin, Claude Lovin and Aubin Lovin.
Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Tom Mac Hunt; daughter, Martha Lyn Smith Wooten and her husband James; grandson, Grant Douglas Smith; many other family members whom she loved dearly.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
