Janie Frances Duncan

October 24, 1947 — February 26, 2019

Janie Frances Duncan, 71, a resident of Knoxville and a graduate of West High, passed away February 26, 2019. Janie received her Bachelor’s degree as well as her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee. Later she received her Master of Laws in International and Comparative Law, Cum Laude from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels, Belgium. She was an attorney for many years with the Federal Trade Commission as well as serving in private practice in both Atlanta and Knoxville, but law wasn’t her only interest. She also studied art at the Savannah School of Art and Design and was an accomplished painter. As a young person she traveled widely through Europe, the U.S. and the Caribbean. She especially enjoyed such activities as snorkeling in the Cayman Islands.

She was preceded in death by her parents, King and Glennie Cox Duncan, Sr. She is survived by her brothers, King Duncan, Jr. and Tim Duncan. Her burial will be beside her parents at Highland Memorial Gardens, Kingston Pike. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced.
