James "Buck" Payne

James “Buck” Payne, 54, of Benton, departed this life unexpectedly on December 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 7, 1968, in Copperhill, Tennessee to Mr. Albert Payne and the late Ms. Mary Baine Payne.  “Buck” was a faithful member of the Ocoee Church of God and loved his church family.

Throughout life, James was a well-known customer service representative with the Bailey Company as a fork truck technician.  He developed a passion for hunting, fishing, and patronizing flea markets.  One of his most memorable moments was becoming and being a father and grandfather.  Above all, family was always number one to him.

Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved wife, Cindy Disney Payne; loving children, Rochelle (Josh) Hooper, and Trevor (Ashley) Payne; cherished grandchildren, Jasper Hooper, Raeleigh Hooper, and Garrett Payne; sister, Vickie (Tim) Pack; and a host of extended family members, colleagues, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Ocoee Church of God, with Pastor Mike Whitmire and Pastor Tony Garrett officiating.  A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at River Hill Cemetery with Ricky Bell, Jonathan Dillard, Henry Epperson, Eppie Payne, Jason Deal, and Josh Hooper serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Payne, Bo Lewis, and Brian Davis.

Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the church prior to the service.
