Hubert Ledford, 73, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on May 3, 2023, at a local hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on May 25, 1949, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Jesse Elbert and Rita Louise Ledford and grew up in Reliance, Tennessee. Hubert was a graduate of Polk County High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the young age of 19. He valued this highly and attained the rank SP4. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, which was a proud moment for him.
In addition to his parents, Jesse Elbert, and Rita Louise Ledford, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Lewis Bedwell and Linda Faye Ledford.
Left to cherish the many memories include his siblings, Jesse “Gene” (Eva) Ledford, Charles “Ed” (Catherine) Ledford, Mary (Wade) Redding and Milburn Ledford. 11 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Wilfred Wright and Ethan Thompson officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Lindner Cemetery. Runt Garren, Johnathan Thompson, Jerry Bryant, Joseph “Harold” Webb, Larry Powell, and Kirk Powell will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
