Gena Sampson

Gena Mae Triplett Sampson, 84, of Benton, departed this life on January 26, 2023.

She was born on May 8, 1938, in Benton, Tennessee to the late John H. and Pearl Keith Triplett.

Throughout life, Ms. Gena enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.

In addition to her parents, John and Pearl Triplett, she was preceded by her siblings, Eva Franks, John Thomas Triplett, Kenneth E. Triplett, Bubbles Newman, Curtis Triplett, and Dan Triplett.

Left to cherish the many memories include her beloved children, Audrey (Bo) Hodge, Mike (Elizabeth) Sampson, Donna (Greg) Evans, and Lisa (John) Moses; cherished grandchildren, Heath (Rachel) Sampson, Christina Sampson, Katelyn Hodge, Jacob Moses, and Sarah (Chance) Cooper; great-grandchildren, Jaxen Vance, Shelby Sampson, Ellie Sampson, and Ava Walker; one sister, Gloria Norman; special friends and caregivers, Meshelle Nelson, and Tammy Wingo.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, January 30, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home..  Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens, with Charles Triplett, Eric Silvers, David Triplett, Heath Sampson, Bill Triplett, and K.W. Triplett serving as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
