Etta B. Goforth, 95, of Reliance, departed this life peacefully on September 7, 2024, at an Athens healthcare facility.
She was born on June 22, 1929, at her home in Archville, to the late Luther and Cora Cochran Owens.
Throughout life, Ms. Etta loved her family and friends dearly and will be missed by all that had the blessing of knowing her. She was a hard worker, striving to perform to her best of abilities, regardless of the occasion.
In addition to her parents, Luther and Cora Owens, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Goforth; two sons, James Cecil Goforth and stillborn, John Goforth Jr.; grandson, Joey Goforth, son-in-law. Jerry Neil Wall; nine siblings.
Left to cherish the many memories include one daughter, Willie Wall; one son, Larry (Mona) Goforth; grandchildren, Robert (Rachel) Wall, Karen (Michael) Watson, Ramona (Mike) Ingram, Belinda Couey, Celina (Jamie) Ingram, and Russell (Teresa) Goforth; great-grandchildren, Jordan Wall, Katen Wall, Dylan Watson, Brady Watson, Madison Price, Brooklyn Ingram, Madelyn Ingram, Keegan Ingram, Nathaniel Couey, Patrick Couey, Amethyst Couey, and Christian Goforth; great-great-grandchildren, Ansley Moore, Greyson Goforth, Nova Leigh Ingram, and Crew Ingram.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Wilfred Wright officiating. Christian Goforth, Keegan Ingram, Dylan Watson, Brady Watson, Mike Ingram, and Russell Goforth will serve as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearer will be Tony Goforth.
