Edith M. Crumley, 98, of Ocoee, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Benton on October 9, 1921 to the late Robert G. and Winnie Ellen McNelley. Edith was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and loved flower gardening, quilting, cake decorating and reading. Her most precious joys came from spending time with her family. Over the years she worked as a seamstress at Delano Hosiery Mill, Hardwick Woolen Mill, American Uniform and Benton Manufacturing Company.
Mrs. Crumley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Mr. Newton A. Crumley; her parents, Robert and Winnie McNelley; siblings, William Clarence McNelley, J.R. McNelley, Claude McNelley, Maude McNelley, Robert Glenn McNelley, Harold McNelley, Fred McNelley, Kenneth McNelley and Leon McNelley; son-in-law, Eugene “Gene” Hannah, sister-in-law, Mildred Presswood McNelley; brother-in-law, Roy V. Wright.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy include her beloved daughters, JoAnn Hannah and Ellen (Neal) Pippenger; grandchildren, Aleta (Kenny) Moorhouse, Louis Eugene Hannah, Jr., Jana L. Hannah, Valerie Pippenger and Karen Pippenger; great-grandchildren, Ben Hannah, K.R. Moorhouse, Ricky (Amanda) Hannah and Sydney (Nick) Breedlove; great-great-granddaughter, Emma Hannah; sister, Shelby Wright; sisters-in-law, Nina Ruth McNelley and JoAnn McNelley; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Kinzel Hooker officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens.
Her family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
