Debbie Lois Cummings

Debra Lois “Debbie” Cummings, 62, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, & friend, departed this life at her residence in Benton on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

She was born on November 9, 1958, in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late Melvin B. and Gladys Allen Cummings.  Throughout life, Debbie enjoyed life and spending time with those dearest to her.  She was a 1977 graduate of Polk County High School and was a member of the Polk County High School Marching Band.  Those that knew Ms. Debbie as a friend, knew of the nickname, “Dibber-Dabber” that she earned at the young age of 2, and carried it every day of her life.  The many friends knew of her love she had for spending time on chat rooms and her social media accounts, reconnecting with new and past friends.  She was an avid supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers and was of the Baptist faith.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

In addition to her parents, Melvin and Gladys Cummings, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Cummings, Fred Cummings, John Cummings, and Mary “Tooter” Hyde-Evans.

Left to cherish the many memories include her two beloved children, Malissa Davis (Anthony “House” Roberson) and Andrew Dickens (Tonya Wilson); cherished grandsons, Dylan Dickens (Taylor Beavers) and Huck Davis; one sister, Phyliss (Raymond) Cummings Jordan; one uncle, Raymond Allen.  Several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Ricky Woody officiating.

Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
