David "Skip" Ben Rogers

May 23, 1962 — May 31, 2022

David "Skip" Ben Rogers, 60, departed this life peacefully on May 31, 2022, at home surrounded by his beloved family and cherished friends.

He was born on May 23, 1962, to the late Buddy and Jerry Rogers and grew up and lived his life in the Linsdale community.  Skip loved to tell stories of the many memories and enjoyments of his life and would usually tell you about his football journey and how he held weight records at Polk County High School (Class of 1980).  He enjoyed talking about his Ford Mustang that he bought at 13 years old.

If he wasn't talking about his childhood, he would tell you a trucking story and how he found his passion in life and made it his career.  Skip was the owner and founder of Rogers Trucking and loved to travel across the country meeting new people.  He would tell stories about his life and lead into sharing the gospel with the individuals.  As much as he loved trucking out west, he found a love of telling those in his community about Jesus and joined the Gideons International located in Polk County, Tennessee.  He made many lifelong friends and made many memories during his time with the Gideons and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Buddy and Jerry Rogers, he was was preceded by his grandparents, C.L. and Nanny Lou Davis, and Frank and Elsie Rogers, and father-in-law, Alford Ferry.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 18 years, Elizabeth Rogers; their beloved daughters, Angel Rogers (Michael Ferry), Courtney Jones, and Emily (Josh) Disney; grandchildren; Tiffany Jones, Elijah Disney, and Lincoln Disney; sister, Tonya Lowe (Steve Adams); mother-in-law, Mary Ferry; special friends, Jimmy and Jackie Locke.  Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor John Cain and Pastor Sam Blankenship officiating.

Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Josh Disney, Jackson Locke, Travis Lowe, Jordan Culberson, Eric Jones, and Berry Jones serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be W.L. Shipman, Eddie Culberson, and Bobby Jenkins.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Tennova Healthcare, Hearth Hospice, Dr Tammy Wingo-Salmond, and Dr. Samuel Olson for their support, care, and comfort through the final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International Polk County Camp in honor of Skip Rogers.
