Danny Ray Winters

September 15, 1953 — December 12, 2021

Danny Ray Winters, 68, of McDonald, departed this life peacefully on December 12, 2021, at a local hospital.

He was born on September 15, 1953, in Reliance, Tennessee to the late W.N. and Dorothy Bain Lowe.  A graduate of Polk County High School, Danny later served for 13 years with the National Guard and then retired from Duracell after 30 years of dedicated service.  A few of Danny’s favorite hobbies include watching J1 dirt track racing, bowling, attending auctions and seeking treasures, visiting the flea market, and telling some of the funniest jokes ever known.  He was always the life of the party and was known for being a pest to everyone he knew and met.  Going to the mountains was his special place along with spending time with his beloved family, who he loved dearly.  He was loved by all who knew him, will be deeply missed, and was the best dad and papaw ever!

In addition to his parents, W.N. and Dorothy Lowe, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Ora Bain; father-in-law, Homer Ingram; granddaughter, Katylin Winters.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 45 years, Rita Ingram Winters; beloved children, Travis (Deanna) Winters, Danielle (Todd) Collins, Justin (Tina) Winters, and Martin Winters; grandchildren, Camryn (Nathaniel) Kelley, Madison Winters (Chandler Kelley), Hannah Winters (Ryan Conner), Haley Sperry, Neeley Collins, Delaney Collins, Kirby Collins, and Kara Swafford; great-grandchildren, Paxton Smith, Ayden Smith, Tucker Sperry, Liam Swafford, and future Weston Kelley; siblings, Joan (Steve) Rogers, Jeff (Lisa) Lowe; niece, Rebecca Rogers; mother-in-law, Georgia Ingram; bonus mother-in-law, Bettie Eaves; bonus sisters, Jennifer Heath, Elizabeth Rainwater, Cheryle Cooper, and Karen Fox; brother-in-law, Steve Ingram.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Rev. Todd Collins officiating.  Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery with Justin Winters, Travis Winters, Danielle Collins, Kirby Collins, Alan McCann, Carl “Fat Boy” Cothran, Michael Sharp ton, and Joe Bain serving as pallbearers.
