Martha Cordelia Rymer

Martha "Granny" Rymer, age 103, of Reliance, TN, Greasy Creek Community was born October 1, 1907 and passed away November 27, 2010 at home from an illness under family hospice care. She was a life long resident of Polk County. She attended Dripping Rock School in 1912. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher in her early years. She was a housewife and a loving mother. She helped make their living by raising crops, canning their food and packing honey. She was known for her award winning quilts and was a member of the Red Cross in 1957. She also prepared Sunday dinner for all of her relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lonas Merrell and Ellen Goforth Merrell; her husband, Elijah Hearse Rymer and her son, Elijah Rymer; brother, Arthur Merrell' sisters, Mardena, Lillie, Laura and Vlema Merrell. She is survived by her daughters, Johnnie Lou Wilcoxon, Mamie Lou Dunn, Eunice Jones; grandchildren: Wanda Brazier, Doris Cheatham, Willard Wilcoxon, Jeannette Dalton, Ken Wilcoxon, Johnny Dunn, Marcella True, Ronald, Steve, Chuck, Eric Jones, Joan Pack; great-grandchildren, Keith Cheatham, Lacey and Leigh Wilcoxon, Kent and Clay Dalton, Megann Wilcoxon, Grant and Josh Dunn, Kevin and Jeremy Bates, Jerry and Brad Jones, Amanda Ingram, Stephanie Jones, Kyle Pack, Katina Drummond, Bailey Jones; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Green officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
