Vergil Anderson, of Benton, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at his home. He was retired from Maytag and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Grace Anderson; grandparents, Reverend Jack Cross and Elizabeth Cross; sister, Elsie Swafford, brother, Harvey Anderson; and special niece, Vickie Bankston. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Johnson Anderson of Benton; daughters Carmen Wilson and Cynthia Green; granddaughters, Kelsey Wilson, Kallie Wilson, Amanda Newby and Tiffany Dunn; five great grandchildren; sister, Betty Caylor; special chosen daughters, Jayme Myers and Shannon Wilcox; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended church family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend David Peters and the Reverend Kurt Benson officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the deacons of Zion Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
