Elizabeth Beckler Green

April 11, 1923 — November 29, 2012

Elizabeth Beckler Green, passed to heaven at her home in Benton on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Mrs. Green was a member of Benton First Baptist Church and is most remembered for her long teaching career in the Polk County School System. She loved and understood children and touched the lives of many in our community. She was born April 11, 1923 in Isabella, TN. She attended school in Ducktown before moving to Benton and graduating from Polk County High School. She attended UT Martin and obtained teacher certification from Tennesse Wesleyn in Athens. Elizabeth or "Lib" loved her family and friends and the time she shared with them was extra special for her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Arthur Green; her parents, Ruby Witzel Beckler and Charles A. Beckler; two brothers, Edwin and John Beckler. Survivors include daughters, Linda Davis and husband, Bill of Conasauga, and Dianne Lowery and husband, Ron of Jekyll Island, GA; her beloved grandchildren, Ronnie Lowery of Chattanooga, Jamie Lowery and wife, Sarah of Spring Hill, TN, Keri Beth Davis of Conasauga, Kristen Hunt and husband, Chris of Ooltewah, TN and Kip Davis and wife, Valerie of Old Fort; several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Benton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Charlie Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Higgins Funeral Home. Mrs. Green requests that donations be made to the Happy Hearts Club at First Baptist, or The Salvation Army or your local Food Bank in lieu of flowers.
