Gussie (Gus) Robinson

Gussie (Gus) R. Robinson, age 73, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Mountain Trace Nursing Center of Sylva, NC. Mr. Robinson was born September 10, 1939 in Old Fort, TN. He was the owner of Independent Paint and Body Shop in Sylva for 27 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gracie (Wilcox) Robinson, and two brothers, Hoyle and Walter Robinson. He is survived by five daughters: Michele Porter and special son-in-law, Jeff of Cullowhee, NC, Tina Robinson of Tuckasegee, NC, Annette Robinson of Johnstown, NY, Cathy Messer and Angie Messer, both of Franklin, NC; two brothers Lloyd Robinson of Benton, TN, and Larry Robinson of Cleveland; two sisters, Wanda Spencer of Rossville, GA and Deborah Miller of Huntsville, TN; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday December 29, 2012in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Hatcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
