Lola K Dunn

March 31, 1930 — November 3, 2014

Lola K. Dunn, 84, a resident of Ocoee, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at a Georgia healthcare facility. She was born into a large family in Cleveland, TN to the late Thomas Clement and Sarah King. Mrs. Dunn grew up in West Cleveland in the Prospect area on a farm where she helped plant crops, attended to the dairy, churned butter and helped make soap. Later in life she married the late Norman Willis Dunn. First and foremost, she loved God. She was a devoted Christian, a disciple of Christ, and became a follower at an early age. She loved to pray, talk to God every morning on her knees, "just want to say good morning Lord", praying a prayer of thanksgiving, prayers for others, personal needs, forgiveness and guidance for the day. She often sang hymns to God throughout the day . . . "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" and "Precious Memories". Mrs. Dunn loved to attend Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a member. She sat near the back with Norman enjoying the sermons, fellowship and worshipping God. She enjoyed Bible study and her Sunday School Class. She made sure her family enjoyed the benefits of growing up in a Christian home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted wife to her husband and always put her family's needs over her own. She loved to garden, can, cook, quilt, sew, crochet and play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the beauty of God's creation through nature, often stating "God made all things beautiful." Her favorite Bible verses were Matthew 6:9-13 and Romans 8:38-39. During the past few years she was in much discomfort due to rheumatoid arthritis and glaucoma. She stated a few days before her passing "Jesus told me to look for Him in Heaven". Today she is free of the crippling pain and rejoicing in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Mrs. Dunn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Willis Dunn; parents, Thomas Clement King and Sarah Hickman King; sisters, Ollie King Hysinger, Marie King Crittenden and Lucille King; brothers, Alvin, Fred, William Allen, Clay and Earl King. Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Cliff) Clark of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Crystal (Conor) Sen of Brookhaven, GA; Ryan (Anna) Clark of Statham, GA; great- grandchildren, Hallie Ann and Kenley Jane Clark. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Kinzel Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
