Benjamin Freeman Stone, 95, a lifelong resident of Benton, TN, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 surrounded by his family at an Athens healthcare facility after an extended illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He was born on November 11, 1919 in Polk County and was looking forward to celebrating 95 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovie E. and Rebecca Elizabeth Burris Stone; sisters, Pauline Gilliland, Maggie Trew Nipper, Nadine Trew, Ruby Stewart Newman; brothers, Lloyd, Spence, Clifford, and A. B. Stone. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Imogene Green Stone; children David (Nadine) Stone, Darlene (Tommy) Rymer, Bob (Barbara) Stone, Gary Stone and Benny Stone; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Rogers and a host of nieces and nephews and a special aid and care giver, Beth McGee. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Friday, November 14, 2014, at Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Hatcher officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Benton Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Grandchildren will serve as pall bearers; Josh Stone, Benjamin Stone, Adam Stone, Matt Rymer, Brent Stone and Spencer Stone.
