Clarence "Nook" Jones, age 72, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at an Athens healthcare facility. A native and lifelong resident of Polk County he was of the Baptist Faith. He had retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years of service and was a well known little league coach for several years in different sports. He was recently inducted into the Polk County High School Hall of Fame. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Jones and Ada Rogers Cross; son, Michael Jones; brother, Buddy Jones; and sister, Reba Burris. He is survived by his son, Tim Jones and wife Jean Marie of Benton; and grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Garrett Jones, and Chandlee Jones all of Benton, Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and good friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 from the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Sheriff Steve Ross officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Old Ocoee Cemetery with a White Release Ceremony concluding the services.
