John L. Godfrey

John L. Godfrey, Jr., 60, of Cleveland, TN passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland, TN. He loved his children, lived for his grandchildren and loved Tennessee football. He was preceded in death by his parents J.L. and Willie Hill Godfrey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sherri Parker Godfrey; daughters, Carrie (Adam) Byrum of Cleveland, TN, Christy (Michael) Thompson of Benton, TN, Leslie (Josh) Waldroup of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Matt (Kourtney) Byrum and Cameron Byrum, Michael and Josh Thompson and Eli Waldroup; great grandchildren, McKinleigh and Abigail Byrum; brothers, James and Joe Godfrey both of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Roberta Bandy of Cleveland, TN and Sara Northern of Jefferson City, TN; father and mother-in-law, James and Blanche Parker. Special nieces and nephew are Amy Danley, Josh and Marcie Parker. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Adam Byrum, Matt Byrum, Michael Thompson, Josh Waldroup, Jimmy Parker and Josh Parker. Honarary pallbearers are Arnold Wallace, Pat O'Rourke, Cameron Byrum, Josh Thompson, Michael Thompson, Eli Waldroup.
