Clyde “C.L.” Lanning, 79, a resident of Delano, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his residence. Everyone knew him as “Low Gear”. His grandchildren were his life and he loved going to their ballgames, always giving instructions how to play better the next game.
He was preceded in death by his; parents, Cecil and Gladys Crook Lanning; sister, Margaret Lanning; grandparents, Clyde and Gertie Crook and Burt and Elizabeth Lanning.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Jenkins Lanning; children, Jeff (Tamra) Lanning, Teresa (Mark) Allen; grandchildren, Matthew Allen, Jared Allen, Mackenzie Lanning, Emily Lanning, Tucker Lanning; sister, Helen Allen; niece, Bobbie (Jeremy) Ross; great nephews, Chris (Heather) Allen, Jessie Murphy; aunt, Jean Eaves; uncle, Clyde (Inez) Crook, Jr. Several cousins also survive. The family sends special thanks to Tennova Hospice, Dominique, Tina and Chris.
The funeral will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Kinzel Hooker officiating.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 in Benton Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
