Pauline McFarland, 76, of Benton, TN, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Ms. Pauline worked 34 years at Polk County High School in special education, where she touched and made a difference in many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Essie Bishop Duggan; sisters, Blanche Crumley, Lena Nesler, Betty Jean Lingerfelt; brothers, Willie (Bud) Duggan, Tom Duggan, Charles Duggan; the father of her children, Freddy McFarland.
She is survived by her children, Melissa (Whitney) Webb, Marti (Steve) Hale, David (Mary Beth) McFarland, Wanda Derrick; grandchildren, Suzanne (James) Townsend, Rylee Jo Hale, Rachel Hale, Ressie Pauline Hale; special niece, Helen Rose; special friend, Wilma Jean Pippenger; special cousins, Bobby and Nyokia Bishop.
Her life revolved around many but she always found the balance for her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew her knew she was a servant of the Lord and to many others. She always enjoyed talking about her Savior and what miracles He gave her.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a one-time Ms. Pauline scholarship fund at First Bank of Tennessee for a Polk County High School graduate.
