Maeagnes C. Goforth

Maeagnes Campbell Goforth, age 85 of Reliance, TN passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at an Etowah healthcare facility.  Her niece Ghena Frazier, who has been with her through her journey to “go home”, and family members were by her side.  She was a life-long and faithful member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church until her health declined.  Her gift was singing and cooking. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Birch A. Goforth; parents, Willie and Hazel Stewart Campbell; sister, Geri Green; brother-in-law, Ray Wilcox; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brown and Melene Goforth. 

She is survived by her nieces and caregivers, Ghena (Tommy) Frazier and Mary (Rick) Rowland; sister, Florence Wilcox; brother-in-law, Noah Green; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buddy and Yvonne Goforth.  Several nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive. 

She loved the Lord, loved to sing and taught people to sing.  Mae was a fantastic cook, especially her coconut pies.  She was a loving “second” mother to everyone and had a sweet, kind and gentle soul.  Mae loved everyone and everyone loved her. 

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Jones and Reverend Cecil Williams officiating.  Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Greasy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home prior to the service. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Clifford Goforth, Dale Goforth, Doug Wilcox, Charlie Wilcox, Alvin Hixson, and Tommy Frazier.
